Tin roofs, big families, a rusty
Swing set

Crossing the bridge
I came to a modern home
Of memories I do not
Recollect

And years later another
Crossing
A shorter bridge

Here for 14 years I grew
Up?
Literally.

School,
A weekly affair
The constant pressure to succeed

I read somewhere that motivation
Could not to be trusted
Rather, discipline
Was what kept us going

Results
As my Geography teacher would say
Was Flashy.
Constant downhills and suddenly
Gravity withdrew
Up it went

Now I see
The light at the end of the tunnel
Correction.
I have always seen it.
Now it's shining it's swirling
Beckoning me to come closer

I take a step
And another
And I run
